I just wanted to tell you thank you for writing your book “How to Start a Home-Based Catering Business.” I lost my job this past January and have been struggling like everyone else in this economy. Part of my challenge is that I want to do something entirely different from what I’ve done before, so I’ve been reading about various types of businesses when I came across your book. I have to say that it is wonderfully well written, chock full of great and practical information, and truly inspiring.
I’ve been doing odd jobs to keep kibble in the bowls and had the opportunity to coordinate a little fund-raiser event (20 people) in Brentwood a couple weekends ago for a friend who is running for office. Looking back on it now, I can say that when everything was set up and ready to go a half-hour before the guests arrived, it gave me a great deal of satisfaction. However, now that I’ve read your book (am actually on the second reading with lots of sticky notes!), I’m inspired to think about this as a real business, including the idea of going to cooking school (at age 55!).
