I did not find this book particularly insightful, especially as it relates the financial dynamics of running a business of this nature. Most of this information is readily available on the internet. I also found it interesting that a party that gave this book a rather positive review gave the other food truck book a very negative review and linked to this book in that review. Just seemed odd to me for what it is worth.

Good book. It has caused me to think about many aspects of the business. I haven't finished it yet but it seems to be an objective view of the business. This is definitely a good place to start to get an understanding. I would also suggest tracking a couple of trucks on Twitter and definitely visiting some to get an even better idea of how they work. Also some videos on youtube.

When I started blogging, I didn't realize the importance of my domain name. Today, I do and now that I'm finding all these great resources I could kick myself for not digging a little deeper when I started. But hopefully my failure to do proper research will save you time and money.

The $7.95 Marketing Plan offers a great blogging tip - before you choose your domain name, take the time to make a list of domains that will actually benefit your blog's SEO, making it easy for people to find you. Jim F. Kukral shares sites where you can test out keywords and it'll help you find a domain and tell you if it's available. I had no idea that anything like this existed until now.

Kukral offers a viable solution that can help. The entire 24 pages of this quick-read ebook is based on the premise of creating a memorable domain name for your online business. And it makes sense.

The ebook can help you learn "How To Come Up With A Memorable Name," as well as understanding what makes a good name and why it matters. And there's a section on how to avoid copyright infringement when registering a domain name (very important!), and one on what makes a domain name memorable. All in all, the $7.95 Marketing Plan gives you all the information you might possibly need to create a solid, SEO-rich domain name.

Kukral's writing is casual, to the point, and easy to read. He's believable and offers real, practical information. In addition, he gives you tools and resources for planning your domain name and building a site that will draw traffic quickly, and that's the whole purpose of any marketing plan, don't you think? Whether it costs $7.95 or $795.

As a former pastor, I would have preferred less profanity, though most folks would consider what's there very mild. And as a writer and editor, I found a number of grammatical mistakes that could have been avoided by hiring a proofreader. But those issue in no way take away from the beneficial information the ebook offers. In fact, before I had even finished reading, I was searching online for a couple of domain names I had come up with using the ideas in the book. That's just what I need... another website to manage. (Not!) At any rate, I think you'll find The $7.95 Marketing Plan well worth the price and the read.

By far, the most impressive, knowledgeable and useful guide to everything from the decision to start your own design business to handling the press, buyers and everything else.

It's not a book that sugarcoats the truth about how hard it is to succeed in this business and how few succeed at all. Even established designers who didn't lay the right foundations, had it come back to bite them. It starts you off in the right mindset and helps you learn from the mistakes and experiences of others, so that you don't waste time and money screwing up by yourself!

A must have book!

this book is jam-packed with excellent information for anyone interested in the fashion business. i read the 200 pg. book in a day and will keep it around for reference. it was easy to understand, brutally honest, and extremely useful in answering my many questions about who, what, when, where, how. i've already made a list of things to do and add to my business plan.

This book's price is right too!

Mary Gehlhar's book is outstanding. It has depth and breath. I really enjoyed all the quotes and pearls of wisdom provided by so many lovely people in the apparel industry. This book covers everything - from concept and design to wholesale price points to retail product placement. This book shows you "the what" and "the how" like no other apparel industry book has.

What I especially enjoyed learning about was the legal information. Thank you Charles Klein for you saved me much heartache that comes with losing your intellectual property. Now I can work with investors wisely for you have banished the only fear I have and that is losing control of my intellectual property as I lose some corporate control due to investors' terms. This is what I read books for - to gain knowledge and insight from people who have done it before me, do it better than me, and write it down to share with us curious souls and thirsty minds.

The other aspect of this book I found to be stellar and not noted in any other fashion industry book (and I read them all) is what Mary Gehlhar says about patternmaking and samplemaking. She states both sides of the argument, doing it yourself and others doing it for you, articulately and succinctly. I applaud you Mary Gehlhar. You wrote a great book.

Some good information in this book. It was a little outdated, but I understand that this business is very fluid and canges all the time. Most of the business information was common-sense, practical stuff. I wish the authors had given more concrete examples of what to expect when you actually start exposting and importing goods, and which countries to avoid, and for what reason, etc.

Still a good book with basic information that is useful to someone trying to get into export-import.

The author of this book is very experienced, and it shows. He also conveys the sheer excitement of owning an export or import business unlike any other other book I've read. And if you can't be excited about what you're doing, why are you doing it? Unlike other books, he also starts out with a self-examination (yours) about how you would fit into such a business. Understanding the personal side of the business, yours and your business contacts, is arguably more important to success than understanding the mechanics of the business. Thus this book is an exceptional preparation for the business as a whole. I also liked that many points are illustrated with vignettes, small stories from experience that make the points much easier to understand. But as is often true, I found some of the information simplistic, such as the financial forecasting which was back-of-the-envelope, nothing you could ever run a business on. I also found that a considerable portion of the references to online sources were obsolete, essentially useless. Online references, even government ones, are too dynamic to publish, and I wonder why anyone even does that. From the overall tone of the book, I suspect the author has experience as an ex/im broker, that aspect of the business that has the lowest overhead and investment. If attractive to you, you definitely want to have this book. If you are a merchant importer or exporter, you will also want this book as it contains all those bits of deep experience of the kind you cannot find anywhere else.
